The Right Way to Shampoo for Healthy Hair and Scalp

The first important thing is the water temperature. Lukewarm water is best, not too hot or too cold. Wet the hair thoroughly, focusing on the scalp, to open the pores. Most people squeeze shampoo directly onto their scalp, but this is a method that damages the scalp.

Just as you squeeze a product to lather and apply it to your face when cleansing, squeeze an appropriate amount of shampoo into your hands, lather it sufficiently, and then apply it to your scalp, massaging with your fingertips. About one minute is an appropriate duration. Do not rinse the lather immediately; leave it on for about five minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly. You can apply a hair treatment after this step.



I would like to strongly recommend that you use hair treatments as well. Since hair is constantly irritated and damaged by sunlight, hair dryers, dyeing, and perms, providing nourishment through treatments replenishes protein and helps maintain a voluminous hairstyle. When protein, the main component of hair, is lost, the hair loses its strength, creating an environment where it is prone to falling out.

If you have an oily scalp, pre-washing (double shampooing) may be helpful. If you rinse off the sebum once and shampoo a second time, you can feel a difference in the amount of lather and the sound of the foam, and it can leave your scalp feeling more refreshed.




There is also something to be careful about when drying after rinsing; you must first wipe off the water with a towel before using a hairdryer. Focus on massaging the scalp by pressing firmly, and instead of wringing out the hair like laundry, simply shake it out by patting. If you squeeze your hair, it stretches out and is prone to breaking. Hair has no regenerative ability, so once it stretches, it does not return to its original state.

When drying your hair with a hairdryer, use a medium heat setting to thoroughly dry the scalp first, and dry the rest of your hair to a moderate temperature depending on the weather. Once completely dry, finish with an essence or oil depending on your hair condition.
