Is there a proper way to use sunscreen?

There are principles you must follow when applying sunscreen.

The first step is to apply a generous amount. To fully benefit from the SPF and PA ratings listed on the packaging, women should apply approximately 0.8g and men about 0.9g to their entire face. This is roughly three to four times the amount of moisturizer typically used. Even if it is difficult, you must rub it in thoroughly until it is completely absorbed.

Second, you should wait at least 20 minutes after application before going outside. 20 minutes is the time required for the sunscreen to stably form a protective barrier on the skin.

Third, all makeup products applied over sunscreen must have an SPF rating that is equal to or higher than that of the sunscreen. If the overlay product has no SPF or a lower rating, it may become diluted during application, reducing its UV protection function.

Fourth, if you exercise outdoors or spend the day at a pool or beach, you must reapply sunscreen every two to three hours, no matter how high the SPF is. Even products boasting waterproof or water-resistant features will inevitably wash off with sweat and water. To avoid suffering from a sunburn after an exciting day at the beach, you must apply a sufficient amount of sunscreen thoroughly to every exposed area. In particular, do not miss the nape of your neck, ears, chest, and the tops of your feet.
