What causes keratosis pilaris?
You may notice bumpy, goosebump-like growths on your arms or legs. While commonly referred to as keratosis pilaris, the correct term is *keratosis pilaris*. This condition occurs when old skin cells fail to shed normally. It happens when old skin cells that should have sloughed off remain on the skin, penetrate the epidermis, and block the pores. Over time, these clogged pores gradually enlarge, causing the skin to become bumpy and eventually resemble goosebumps.
