Please recommend accessories for applying liquid foundation.

I'm using a cushion foundation instead of liquid foundation. It used to apply well, but now it's starting to cake and clump. Should I try changing my applicator? I'm really clumsy when it comes to makeup, so please recommend some applicators that are good for someone like me.
