Milia are formed when sebum, cellular debris, and keratin produced by cells accumulate inside clogged pores. Although they are not painful because inflammation caused by bacteria has not yet developed, they are unsightly. The problem is that if left untreated, they often turn red and fester, becoming inflammatory acne.
