If you look at the corners or back of products, you can see a complex mix of English letters and numbers. Unlike food products that clearly display the "Date of Manufacture" or "Expiration Date" in large Korean characters, this format makes it somewhat difficult to read. However, if you see letters starting with "M"—such as MFD or MFG—before the numbers on the container, this indicates the date of manufacture. For example, if it says MFG220810, the manufacturing date is August 10, 2022. M stands for "Manufacture"!
However, if the letter H precedes the number, you need to read it a little differently! If it is written as 'H22M10', it becomes a bit more complicated to read. First, the H indicates the 'manufacturing month'; since H is the 8th letter in the alphabet, this means the product was manufactured in August. The number 22 following it signifies the 'year of manufacture'. Also, here, M does not stand for 'manufacturing' but represents the 'factory number', and the number 10 following it signifies the 'date of manufacture'. In other words, reading this means it is a cosmetic product manufactured at Factory M on August 10, 2022!
